Cruise Season 2022-2023

With the arrival of the Nieuw Amsterdam at the “Marina Pez Vela” cruise terminal in Puerto Quetzal, Escuintla officially began the 2022-2023 cruise season for Guatemala.

The cruise tourism segment is of utmost importance for Guatemala, which allows visitors to enjoy and learn about the natural and cultural wonders that our country offers for a period of 10 to 14 hours.

For this season, the arrival of 66 cruise ships is expected:

  • 42 ships will dock in the Pacific, Puerto Quetzal, Escuintla.
  • 24 ships will dock in the Atlantic in Puerto Santo Tomas de Castilla.

In the Pacific, visitors have the opportunity to visit tourist attractions such as: Antigua Guatemala and its surrounding towns, Lake Atitlán, coffee and macadamia farms, Auto Safari Chapín, the Pacaya Volcano and Iximché, among others.

While on the Atlantic side, you can visit places such as: Quiriguá, the Río Dulce canyon, Livingston, the San Felipe Castle, Las Escobas trail, Amatique Bay, among others. From both ports, by air, it is also possible to visit the Tikal National Park.

According to estimates, for the 2022-2023 season, the arrival of approximately 84 thousand cruise passengers and 42 thousand crew members is expected. This season there will be 9 new ships, 3 new cruise lines and 6 will spend the night in ports.
