Xunantunich It is another large site, and is located on a natural elevation on the banks of the Mopán River, near the town of Benque Viejo and the border with Guatemala.
Its most important building is Structure A-6, also known as El Castillo, which rises 40 m and is decorated with a frieze modeled in stucco that contains masks and a combination of terrestrial and celestial symbols.
At the southern end of the plaza is the main palace and there are two ball courts. The most important stelae of the site are displayed in the Visitor Center.
