Just 15 km east of Lubaant\u00fan is\u00a0Nim Li Punit<\/strong>, which during the Late Classic could have been part of the same political entity as Lubaant\u00fan. <\/p>\n\n\n\n It is located on the banks of the Arroyo Dorado, in the foothills of the Mayan Mountains, in a region known as Toledo Beds. Unlike Lubaant\u00fan, this site does not have monumental architecture, but it does have a set of 26 monumental steles, of which seven have inscriptions made in sandstone rock and slate. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Of its monuments, Stela 14 stands out, which at 9.4 m high is the tallest in Belize and the second tallest in the Mayan World. In addition, the ruler wears a hat-shaped headdress, which gave the site its name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Its central area is made up of a ceremonial group and two residential groups. The ceremonial center consists of two squares: The Plaza de las Estelas was where their monuments were placed and where the largest pyramid of the site is located, 12 m high. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Plaza de las Tumbas Reales, located to the west, contains buildings and funerary enclosures. To the west is a ball court, which leads to the Ninki Pec and Akam residential groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Their steles are exhibited in the site's Visitor Center, as well as a sample of ceramic and lithic artifacts recovered from tombs and other contexts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The site of\u00a0Pusilh\u00e1<\/strong>\u00a0It is located between the Poit\u00e9 and Machaca rivers, in a relatively flat valley, although some of the main architectural groups were located on terraces on hillsides. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The Acropolis is located on Gateway Hill, on the southeast side of the site, which has a ball court at its base. <\/p>\n\n\n\n To access this group you had to cross the Machaca River through a stone bridge.
