{"id":1034,"date":"2023-12-17T01:19:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-17T01:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gomundomaya.com\/\/?p=1034"},"modified":"2023-12-17T01:19:25","modified_gmt":"2023-12-17T01:19:25","slug":"yaxha","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gomundomaya.com\/en\/yaxha\/","title":{"rendered":"Yaxha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Towards the southeast is\u00a0<strong>Yaxha<\/strong>, on the shores of the lagoon of the same name, which has five acropolis-type groups of monumental dimensions and other buildings with many features similar to Tikal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Structure 216 stands out, which offers a spectacular view of the lagoon, as well as its North Acropolis, Twin Pyramid Complex and the Lake Causeway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the lagoon is the site of\u00a0<strong>Topoxte<\/strong>, which was mostly occupied during the Postclassic period. In the Yaxha area there are other important cities such as\u00a0<strong>Nakum<\/strong>, whose acropolis has the longest palace in Pet\u00e9n; and\u00a0<strong>Orange tree<\/strong>, another of the largest cities in all the Lowlands, which rivaled Tikal and Caracol for control of the eastern area of Pet\u00e9n. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The figure of a woman, called Wak Chan, stands out, whose reign marks the apogee of the site. Other sites that can be visited in the eastern area of Pet\u00e9n are\u00a0<strong>Saint Clement<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Tzikin Tzakan<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>The White<\/strong>, all dated to the end of the Classic and which have monumental palaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Great was his wisdom; His sight reached the forests, the rocks, the lakes, the seas, the mountains and the valleys.
