Requirements to enter the country

Visitors to Belize must have a passport valid for at least three months after the date of arrival, a return ticket, and sufficient funds to cover their stay.

Visitors are granted a month's stay. After this, they can apply for an extension at the Immigration Department.

Visas are not required for citizens of the United States and its territories, Canada, the United Kingdom and its territories, the European Union, the Caribbean and Central American countries, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Uruguay.

Visitors arriving in Belize from Guatemala or Mexico by land or sea vehicle must obtain a temporary import permit at the point of entry.

TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN

Children under 18 years of age must have appropriate documentation, including a valid passport and a letter of parental consent. Children traveling with one parent require a notarized letter from the other parent indicating consent for travel.

TRAVELING WITH PETS

Pets must have a certificate issued by a registered veterinarian in the country of origin and an import permit from the Belize Agriculture and Health Authority (BAHA), +501-223-1653.
